Badass Granddad
This year I've launched a series of three-minute videos on TikTok focusing on people and their phones. It’s become a great success with over 160,000 views and hundreds of Likes and Followers. I’ve done 38 episodes so far and intend to do 100.
Each episode starts with a two-minute adventure story that connects to a very non-smarmy life lesson on Giraffe values such as courage, leadership and service—and finally a call to action.

Beginning in June, 2025, I've also launch a related initiative: instead of using my three minutes to tell a story only of my own adventures, I’ll begin to use the stories of Giraffe Heroes for perhaps 1/3 of the episodes. In these Giraffe Heroes episodes, the life lessons and calls to action will be drawn from the inspirational actions of the Giraffe Heroes.
I’m focusing on Giraffes who’ve taken stands against authoritarian control. The first Giraffe Hero episode, for example, featured Missy Cummings, the brave robotics expert and former Navy fighter pilot who took on Elon Musk over the issue of the safety of self-driving cars.
